International Powerman Association

Race Rules & Regulations

Please read these Race Rules carefully before participating in this scheduled POWERMAN competitive event and any related activities (collectively, the “Event”).

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event by POWERMAN, I acknowledge, understand, and agree to comply with the following Race Rules:

Rule 1: Registration Confirmation

Registration for the Event shall be deemed successful only upon the fulfillment of all of the following conditions:
i) complete and accurate submission of the online registration form;
ii) execution of the Participant Assumption of Risks, Waiver, Release and Indemnity Agreement;
iii) full payment of the applicable registration fees; and
iv) issuance of an official identification number (Race Bib).

Rule 2: Right of Refusal

POWERMAN reserves the right to refuse entry to the Event at its sole discretion and without obligation to provide any reason.

Rule 3: Bib Transfer

Athletes are strictly prohibited from transferring or sharing their assigned Race Bib.

Rule 4: Bib Display

Athletes must wear and clearly display their assigned Race Bib at all times during the Event. Failure to do so may result in immediate disqualification and removal from the race by an Event Official and/or Security Officer.

Rule 5: Age Group Eligibility

Athletes must compete in the age-group category corresponding to their age as of the Event date.

Rule 6: Non-Drafting Rule

POWERMAN enforces a strict Non-Drafting Rule. Drafting is defined as remaining within another athlete’s bicycle draft zone for more than twenty-five (25) seconds.

The draft zone extends twelve (12) meters from the leading edge of the front wheel of the athlete ahead (approximately five (5) bike lengths). Athletes may enter the draft zone only when overtaking and must complete the pass within twenty-five (25) seconds. Slipstreaming is not permitted.

A pass is considered complete when the overtaking athlete’s front wheel passes the leading edge of the front wheel of the overtaken athlete. Once an athlete enters the draft zone, the pass must be completed; withdrawing from the zone is not permitted.

The overtaken athlete must immediately drop back out of the draft zone. Re-passing before exiting the draft zone will result in a violation.

Athletes must ride single file on the far-left side of the course except when overtaking or when required for safety. Side-by-side riding is prohibited and may result in a drafting or blocking penalty.

Penalties for violations may include a “stop-and-go” or “black box” penalty.

Exceptions: Entry into the draft zone without penalty is permitted only when:
i) completing a pass within twenty-five (25) seconds;
ii) required for safety reasons;
iii) entering or exiting aid stations or transition areas;
iv) navigating an acute turn; or
v) directed by an Event Official due to course conditions or safety concerns.

Athletes who obstruct the forward progress of others may be penalized for blocking.

Rule 7: Mandatory Retirement

Any athlete instructed to retire from the race by the Official Medical Team, Event Director, Referee, Event Official, or Security Officer must comply immediately.

Rule 8: Disqualification

Athletes required to retire from the race shall be deemed disqualified and will not be eligible to receive a Finisher Medal, Finisher T-Shirt, Finisher e-Certificate, or Official Finish Time.

Rule 9: Start Time Compliance

Athletes who start before their official category start time will be disqualified. Athletes who fail to start within twenty (20) minutes of the official start time may be disqualified and may be denied permission to start.

Rule 10: Timing Method

All race timings shall be based on gun time.

Rule 11: Cut-Off Times

The cut-off times for the Event are:

  • POWERMAN Classic: 5.5 hours
  • POWERMAN Short: 4.5 hours

Cut-off times are measured from the first athlete’s start time. Roads may be reopened to live traffic after the cut-off time. Athletes continuing beyond the cut-off time do so at their own risk.

POWERMAN reserves the right to reopen roads at any time for operational or safety reasons and shall not be liable for any resulting loss or inconvenience. Event Officials may require athletes unlikely to finish within the cut-off time to retire and board a safety vehicle.

Rule 12: Prohibited Items

The following are strictly prohibited on the race route: pets, inline skates, prams, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers, and any other wheeled objects, except for Official Event and Official Medical vehicles.

Rule 13: Prizes

Elite athletes are eligible for prizes and/or prize money. Athletes who fail to meet age, nationality, or gender requirements for their registered category will be disqualified, and prizes will be awarded to the next eligible finisher.

Prize winners must present original identification (Passport or Identity Card) and their Race Bib number to claim prizes.

Rule 14: Appeals

Appeals regarding prize eligibility must be submitted in writing onsite within thirty (30) minutes of prize presentation, accompanied by an appeal fee of RM150.

Appeals regarding official finishing positions must be submitted in writing within seven (7) days after the Event, also subject to a RM150 appeal fee. Appeals submitted outside these timeframes will not be entertained.

Rule 15: Finisher Entitlements

Athletes who successfully complete the Event will receive a Finisher Medal upon presentation of their Race Bib. Only finishers of the Individual Classic and Individual Short categories are eligible for a Finisher T-Shirt.

All medals and T-shirts must be collected onsite. Athletes who complete the Event within the cut-off time may download their Finisher e-Certificate from the POWERMAN website within ninety (90) days after the Event.

Rule 16: Amendments & Interpretation

POWERMAN reserves the right to amend these Race Rules at its sole discretion. In the event of any ambiguity, POWERMAN’s interpretation shall be final.
